ISSHIN_MANGA SUMMARY
This is a rough volume by volume summary of Isshin and his appearances;
Volume 1;
We are introduced to Daddy Kurosaki as he berates Ichigo for being late. He then asks this great big poster of his late (beloved) wife why his daughters treat him so badly. Karin replies that it's because he is a moron. ^^ We also see the first instance of Isshin's... er 'tough love' with Ichigo. After the Ichigo/Rukia stuff we see the famous scene where Isshin 'wakes' Ichigo up with a kick. Don't really see him much after that until chapter 7. That's when he treats Chad and deals with a multiple car accident. This is probably the only 'work' Isshin we get to see. It's also the first time Isshin is presented in a serious manner.
Volume 2;
The very first page has Isshin in it. ^^ He tells Ichigo that Chad has dissapeared. And that's the only time you see him. Though we do see Karin at the clinic towards the end of the volume.
Volume 3;
This is Isshin's volume. It's the volume that's made many a fan. He plays a large part in this arc because it is Ichigo's back story. We see Isshin the first time as he is ordering the family around for their trip to their mothers grave. He's yelling at the kids and telling them what they need to do. The next time we see him he and his family are walking towards the gravesite and he's taunting the girls. They are tiring a bit. He tells them they can do it and proves it by going insane and walking on his hands. Karin kicks him, he falls, and the joy is back. ^^
This is also the only time Isshin's clothes are looking 'normal'. So Ichigo does some stuff and then we see Isshin wigging out by the grave. They are going to play dominos. o_0 Then Ichigo's past is revealed and how his mum died.
Then Kubo puts this nifty omake thing in with Isshin picking through various whistles. He picks the chicken whistle to call his daughters. He tells Ichigo he's blowing for his sisters and he wouldn't blow the whistle for Ichigo, he'd just leave him. Isshin is kicked yet again by Ichigo and they go seperately to look for the girls.
We don't see Isshin again until after the Hollow battle with Ichigo. Ichigo is standing at the grave in the rain and Isshin brings him an umbrella. He lightens the mood by pretending not to remember when his wife died. Then he tells Ichigo that she would be proud and that Ichigo was doing so well. He's smoking and Ichigo asks him about it. He tells him that his mom told him that she thought he looked cool when he smoked. So every year he smoked once, in front of her. Ichigo asks how Isshin still loves him when he killed his mother. Isshin doesn't blame him. He says Masaki would be mad at him if he blamed Ichigo. He was proud of her for dying to save him. So Ichigo has to live his life to honor her sacrifice.
Volume 4;
All we really see is Isshin spazzing over Don Kanonji in this one.
Volume 5;
We get a nifty scene in the beginning of this one with Isshin taking his shirt off and offering to pull Karin to his 'manly' bossom with fatherly pride. This is after the battle Karin and Chad have with the Hollow. Chad is gone and Isshin thinks Karin was lying to him about everything for attention. Karin lays the smackdown on him.
Hmmm... that's really all we get of Isshin for a looooonnnggg time. Ichigo goes to Soul Society and we don't see Isshin for a couple volumes.
